How to clean breast pump accessories?

For optimal sterilisation, ensure to clean and disinfect the pump before its initial use, as it is a non-sterile product. Before cleaning, remove all accessories. Non-washable parts, such as the pump motor containing electronics, should be wiped with a clean, damp cloth, as any other cleaning method may void the warranty.

Washable parts, including the Valve, Linker, Diaphragm, Flange, and Milk Collector, require the following supplies: mild dish soap, a clean dishcloth or soft brush, a clean wash basin, and clean water.

Warning: Breast pumps are personal care items for a single user only and should never be rented or shared. After each use, promptly separate and wash all parts in contact with breast and breast milk to prevent residue and bacterial growth.

1) Rinse all separated parts in 25-30 °C (77-86 °F) water to remove breast milk residue.

2) Submerge washable parts in 40-60 °C (104-140 °F), soapy water for 3~5 minutes. Clean each part with a dishcloth or soft brush, then rinse with clear water.

3) Place parts on a clean surface or towel.

  • Allow all parts to air dry
  • Store dry parts in a clean, cool place when not in use
  • Avoid storing wet or damp parts.

Caution: Use only drinking-quality water for cleaning.

How to sanitise breast pump accessories?

*For optimal sterilisation, it is recommended to clean and disinfect the pump before the initial use.

*Breast pump components that come in contact with the breast and breast milk, including the flange, milk collector, linker, diaphragm, and valve, can be hand-washed in the sink.

Precaution: The pump body, which houses the electrical components, should be wiped down with a low-level disinfectant such as ethyl alcohol or isopropyl alcohol (70% - 90%).

Supplies needed: ・Clean pot for 100 °C (212 °F) water ・Clean water ・Tongs

Washable Parts to Wash: ・Flange ・Linker ・Diaphragm ・Valve

Warning: Breast pumps are personal care items intended for a single user only and should never be rented or shared. Separate and wash all parts that come in contact with the breast and breast milk immediately after use to avoid breast milk residue and prevent bacterial growth.

1) Wash hands thoroughly.

2) Fill a pot with enough water to cover all parts. Bring water to a boil. Place parts in boiling water for 5-10 minutes.

3) Allow water to cool, and gently remove parts from water with tongs

4) Place parts on a clean surface and/or towel. Allow all parts to air dry.

  • Store dry parts in a clean, cool place when not in use
  • Avoid storing wet or damp parts

Travel safe?

When traveling, utilise the provided charging cable and ensure it is adjusted to the appropriate power source for your current location. Before boarding a plane, seek advice from the airline regarding carrying or using the pump during the flight.

Operating Conditions:

  • Temperature: -20 to 60°C / -4 to 140°F
  • Relative Humidity: 15% - 90%
  • Ambient Pressure: 90 to 106kPa

Leaking worries?

Firstly, ensure the correct sitting posture by sitting at a 45-degree angle while using the breast pump, leaning forward and keeping the container upright after use. Additionally, it is recommended to replace parts within 1 to 2 months.

Troubleshooting BabyBuddee's Leak Problems:

(1) Leaking from Silicone:

  • If the leak is at the silicone's edge, check if it's properly snapped in
  • Faulty or warped silicone may also cause leaks
  • Note: Heat sterilisation or using the dishwasher/microwave for BabyBuddee washable parts is not recommended

(2) Leaking from Motor or Collection Cup:

  • Ensure the collection cup and motor are fully secured
  • Check for cracks in the collection cup, causing overflow
  • Solution: Maintain the correct posture and use tape if needed

(3) Leaking from Milk Pour Hole:

  • Align the silicone shield and collection cup notches during assembly
  • Misalignment may cause leaks through the pour hole

(4) Leaking from Flange Hole:

  • Leaning too far back may cause leakage
  • Replace the duckbill if the slit is open, allowing milk to travel back into the flange during strong movements

Other Tips:

  • When removing the pump, tilt it forward 45 degrees, and if using a nursing bra, untie the detachable clip for easy removal without touching the silicone flange.
  • When pouring milk, ensure the flange entrance is upward.

No suction?

Here are some solutions for common issues you may be experiencing:

Step 1: Low Suction

  • Check Valves and Membranes: Separate membranes from valves and inspect for damage like cracks, chips, holes, or tears. Ensure a snug fit and that they lie flat. If damaged, discontinue use and replace the parts. Reassemble after checking

Step 2: Inadequate Milk Flow

  • Check Flange Size: Ensure the flange size is appropriate. A lack of milk during pumping may indicate an improper shield fit or positioning

Step 3: Adjust Models and Suction Levels

  • Experiment with different models and suction levels to find the most effective combination
  • Before pumping, warm the breast with a hot towel and massage to stimulate the areola, ensuring the breast is unblocked for optimal results

No suction?

Adjusting the pump models and suction levels can help optimize your pumping experience. Before beginning the pumping session, consider warming the breast with a hot towel and engaging in a gentle massage to stimulate the areola. This pre-pumping routine aims to ensure that the breast is thoroughly unblocked, promoting a more effective and comfortable pumping process.

Noise issues?

When the motor is operational, generating noise is normal and unavoidable.

Troubleshooting BabyBuddee's Noise Problems:

  1. Keep Dry Before Use:

    • Ensure that all components are dry before using the breast pump to prevent unnecessary noise
  2. Check for Damaged Accessories:

    • Inspect all accessories to confirm they are undamaged and in good condition
  3. Ensure Correct Installation:

    • Verify that all accessories are installed correctly, following the provided instructions
  4. Eliminate Gaps Between Pump and Breast:

    • Wear a suitable nursing bra and adjust its size to minimize gaps between the breast pump and the breast

If the pump continues to make noise despite these measures, please contact us so that one of our team members can assist in resolving the issue for you.
